FAQ

How does it all work and what makes it different from a standard ‘registry wedding’ or a personalised wedding ceremony?

What does a Love on the Run wedding look like?

Where?
Host your wedding anywhere you like, your backyard, a local pub, down the beach, or a full-blown wedding venue! We will match you with one of our talented celebrants in your local area so that you can have your wedding in a place that’s special to you. We have celebrants all over Aotearoa waiting to help you say ‘I do!’.

When?
Host your wedding on any day of the week at a time that suits you best! Please note that Saturday weddings will incur an additional $100 fee.

Can I choose my celebrant?
Love on the Run works with over 50 celebrants throughout New Zealand. Your celebrant will be allocated based on availability and location so you are not able to choose your specific celebrant. If you have a specific request we may be able to accommodate however all our celebrants are warm, wonderful individuals with a wealth of experience. We believe that all love is equal regardless of religious belief, ethnicity, gender or orientation.

How many guests can we have?
We know how hard it can be to cull a guest list so celebrate with as many guests as you would like!

Can we have a photographer? Music? Decorations? Video?
If you would like to hire a photographer, videographer, play music, and decorate your space then we strongly encourage you to do so! It’s your wedding and we want to help make your day as special as possible. If you need help finding any vendors just let us know - we have some very talented friends!

Can we write and exchange our own vows?
We love it when couples write and exchange their own vows, so you are welcome to do so but remember you don’t HAVE to.

What will the ceremony involve?
We will provide three pre-written script options for you to choose from. Your ceremony will last approximately 10 minutes and we promise it will feel like a genuine, sentimental wedding, not a business meeting!

What is a registry wedding?

In the past you could have a courthouse wedding in New Zealand. A few years ago the government did away with courthouse weddings and now offer ‘registry’ weddings instead. Registry weddings are the bare minimum, legal requirement to get married here in New Zealand. They may be a great option if you’re on a budget and want something simple but they come with A LOT of rules ( under 10 guests, no music, no photography etc. ) Love on the Run offers short, simple, budget-friendly ceremonies without all the rules and restrictions that come with an official ‘registry wedding’.

What is a personalised wedding ceremony?

A personalised wedding ceremony is exactly what it sounds like, a wedding ceremony created and written from scratch by your celebrant that tells the story of your relationship from when you first met, to engagement and everything in between. For obvious reasons, this kind of ceremony requires a lot more work for your celebrant and therefore comes with a higher price tag. If you are interested in a fully personalised ceremony you can get in touch with Libby via her celebrant business Love & Liberty.

We don’t think you should be punished for wanting to have your wedding, your way, on a budget so we’re giving you the best of both worlds!
